This page is solely for PRACTICING editing in a wiki. This page is where you can practice copy and paste from a document and practice editing and saving the document. Do not add any substantive content here. This page may be periodically cleared if it gets too messy.

Go ahead and play on this page! Practice will make you proficient editing in any of the other live pages. If you need help, try the Basic Wiki Help and the Advanced Wiki Help. Also please be sure to abide by our Code of Conduct when posting your practice text.

end of discussion test.

What happens when I edit a Wiki? ‍‍‍‍It looks like it works.‍‍‍‍ I am not sure if it really does work.

‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍This is a test of the Comment Button. This is a test of commenting on the Comment Button (nice ‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍Button...).‍‍ This is a second test of commenting on the Comment Button. ‍‍This is a third test of commenting on the ‍‍‍‍‍Comment Button.‍‍‍‍‍‍‍

Hmmm, how to best add a table to the wiki? I could maybe copy and paste from excel, or make a table. trying both here:

From excel:

Title of Designated Area
California National Forest
Size
Purpose
Management
Date
Page in Forest Plan
Link to Forest Plan
Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest Botanical Area
Inyo NF
28887 acres
Preserve bristlecone pine forest.
Minerals are withdrawn. Notes that area is isolated from logging and intensive uses. There is "little concern" that there will be "adverse impacts…under any alternative."
1988
295-6
http://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/fsbdev3_003600.pdf

Typing text manually in the second option. real slow.

Verdict: copy and paste directly from excel. Sweet!
now testing pasting hidden cells:

1 botanical/cultural, 1 geological, 1 ecological, 1 botanical/geologic & 2 botanical special interest areas
Six Rivers NF

Manage areas for their unique ecological values for public use, education and enjoyment.
Recreation is subordinated to preserving features. Prescribes special road and revegetation guidelines. Allows prescribed fire and habitat enhancements. Minerals are withdrawn, and reclamation plans and bonds are mandated. Excludes areas from timber base. With exception for catastrophe, cut trees must be left in place.

Test of inserting a bunch of text then deleting a bunch of text to see exactly what sections of my own writing get saved in versions. This whole paragraph is text that I typed in at one setting. My hypothesis is that once I save this version, that if I come in a new edit session and delete my own words it will save a copy of my edits to my own words.

Test worked as expected. I deleted the last sentence and it showed up as a change. What it won't save are any edits made in the same session. Even if autosaved. It will only track changes between actual recorded versions. So if it shows up in the Page History, it will track edits.
